Bhubaneswar: The Rural Managers’ Association of Xavier Institute of Management, RMAX,  organized their annual marketing event “Gramotsava 2016” from 1 to 2nd October 2016. The students of Rural Management visited Niali, a village in Cuttack district and organised a series of events for the two days. The theme for this year was “Skill India” and the purpose of this event was to reach the rural fraternity and spread awareness on various skills that can be learnt and showcased with the help of Rural Marketing.

There were stalls put up of different companies like Smart Solar, IIFCO, Anmol Biscuits, Jyoti Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, and Free Eye (Vision Spring) and dental checkup stalls. In addition to this, there were games and competitions organized by the students which saw a large participation from the local residents. Anmol Biscuits organized a talent hunt for the children that included a series of events like painting, singing and dancing. The locals visited the stalls to gain an insight on the latest products and the technologies behind them.

This was also a new experience for them as they got to interact with representatives from different companies and students of XIMB. For many of the villagers, this was a first time interaction of this sort and they participated in lofty numbers.

Having a footfall of more than 8,000, Gramotsava once again was a huge success. At the end of the 2-day event, the winners of the different competitions were given prizes and souvenirs.

“Gramotsava” is the flagship event organized by the RMAX committee of XUB and is held every year in prominent rural haats to showcase the learning and skills of rural management students. The aim of this event is to create a significant impact on the ideas and products among rural consumers.
