Bangalore: CMR University, a private university based in Bangalore, has invited applications for various programmes offered by the university: Under Graduate (Engineering, Architecture), Post Graduate, Doctoral Programmes (PhD), MBA, 3-year programmes, etc.
PhD programmes are available in the following subjects: Management, Economics, Commerce, Social Sciences, Science, Humanities, Education, Law, Interdisciplinary Studies, Engineering and Technology, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Management Studies / Business Administration.
Eligibility Conditions: The candidate shall have completed post graduation/masters degree from any recognized University in the state or any other University in India or abroad as recognized by the CMRU Equivalence Committee. CMR University recognizes CA from The Institute 0f Chartered Accountants of India and CMA from The Institute of Cost Accountants of India for the purpose of registering for PhD in Commerce and other allied disciplines.
The candidate shall have minimum of 55% of marks in aggregate or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) (not applicable to engineering and management subjects). However, in case of candidates belonging to SC and ST (and other reservation norms stipulated by the Government), the minimum marks required shall be 50%.
The minimum marks for admission in Engineering & Technology and Management disciplines shall be 60% in aggregate or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). However, in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST (and other reservation norms stipulated by the Government), the minimum marks required shall be 55%.
For teachers employed in University / affiliated colleges before 31-03-1992 and are continuing in service on a regular basis shall be given a relaxation of 5% of marks at the Master’s Degree level.
Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Medicine under 10+2+4/5 system or Master’s Degree in Science/Computer Applications under 10+2+3+2/3 with not less than a First Class or equivalent CGPA are eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D program. In case of examinations, where such a classification does not exist, a minimum of 60% marks is needed in the qualifying examinations.
Selection Process for PhD programmes: Only those applications, which have been completed accurately and in full, and that, include the relevant certificates and other documents, as attachments will be considered. Candidates will be shortlisted, and those candidates who have been selected are required to take the entrance examination (held in the University premises) and appear for a personal interview. The exact date, time and venue of the exam will be communicated to each shortlisted candidate. The final results will be announced once the marks obtained by the candidates in their postgraduate examination, entrance examination and personal interview have been consolidated.
The following categories of candidates are exempt from taking the PhD entrance test:
Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET (JRF), SET/SLET, GATE or any other examination considered equivalent by AIU.
Candidates possessing M. Phil Degree from a recognized University as per UGC regulations, 2009
The Admission Prospectus has not mentioned any closing date for submission of application for PhD programes. The application receipt is expected to continue till end of June Month 2017, as per the university sources.
