Gurgaon: National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Manesa, a deemed university, invites applications for admissions to PhD (Neuroscience) & MSc (Neuroscience) programmes 2018. NBRC admits students with diverse academic backgrounds that include various branches of Life Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medicine, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & communications Engineering, Computer Science & Information Technology.

Fellowship Benefits: Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is  25,000/- per month and for Senior Research Fellows it is  28,000/-.

Eligibility for PhD:

Master’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University or a minimum of four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.

Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. Candidates with at least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.

Eligibility for MSc (Neuroscience):

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.

Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. Candidates selected for M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programme will be eligible to switch to Integrated M.Sc.-PhD programme of NBRC if they fulfill the required criteria.

PhD Programme Details on Neuroscience at National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) :

Candidates can take any of the following qualifying examinations:

Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2017/GATE-2018) in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering. Candidates who qualified in GATE-2017 in these subjects are also eligible to apply.

Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2018):

CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics (the candidates should also fulfill the eligibility criteria of NBRC for PhD programme). Also their fellowship should be valid to be activated up to 31 August 2018 or later.

MSc Programme Details:

Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS).

Candidates who join the M.Sc. programme will have option to continue in the Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme upon fulfilling the required criteria.

Key Dates: The admission notification mentioned that NBRC online application opens Last week of October 2017. The last date of receiving application at NBRC for PhD & MSc programme for JGEEBILS candidates only on 31 December 2017.  Last date of receipt of requests for hard copy of application form : 15th November, 2017 (for applicants through JGEEBILS channels).

Last date of receipt of requests for hard copy of application form : 15th February, 2018 (for applicants through other channels).
