Mumbai:  The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay celebrated Teacher’s Day on 2 September 2016 at the Institute campus, commemorating the birth anniversary of noted philosopher, educationist and statesman, Dr. Sarvepalli. Radhakrishnan. On the occasion, Prof. Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, Distinguished Professor, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, was the Chief Guest.

Prof. Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, conferred the Excellence in Teaching Awards (2016) and Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2015) as a recognition to the contribution made by the faculty members of IIT Bombay in the field of teaching and research, at the Teacher’s Day function.  The list of the awardees is given below:

Dr. P. K. Patwardhan Technology Development Award (2015) was awarded to Prof. Anirban Guha, Prof. C. Amarnath, Prof. B. Seth, Prof. K. Kurien Issac and Mr. Abhay Kharade.

Before the presentation of every award, a short citation on the proud recipient was also read out.

The Teacher’s Day function also saw a beautiful cultural performance by the students of the institute as a mark of gratitude to their teachers. Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members and students in large numbers attended the function.
