New Delhi: Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) 2018 will be held on Sunday, 18 February 2018. The application window will open from 15 November 2017. The closing date for submission of application window is 16 December 2017.
JEST is a screening test for admission to PhD and Integrated PhD programme of different participating institutes (more than 30 institutes) in physics, theoretical computer science and neuroscience. The JEST examination is conducted each year for two subjects only: physics and theoretical computer science. However, the qualifications for admission to the PhD and Integrated PhD programme in various participating institutes are different.
The Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) (statutory body established through an Act of Parliament) recognizes JEST as a National Eligibility Test (NET). Fellows working in SERB programmes and qualified in NET are eligible to get enhanced fellowship. JEST score is valid for one year.
Broad Eligibility Criteria: BSc (Physics/Mathematics) for MSc and Integrated PhD; MSc (Physics/applied Physics) for regular PhD; B.E., B.Tech and M.Tech also accepted for regular PhD in some participating institutes, which have their specific eligibility criteria.
