Bengaluru, 18 December, 2017: Sparsh 2017, the annual reunion of IIM Bangalore’s one-year full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) alumni, was hosted at IIM Bangalore on Dec 18 (Sunday) 2017.
The event, coordinated by the EPGP Alumni Committee, focused on strengthening alumni interactions. In the presence of key faculty members of the programme, the session began welcoming the alumni. Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Chairperson, EPGP at IIMB, provided an overview of the programme and encouraged students to actively participate in the feedback process that “would help in improving the curriculum”.
Pointing out that companies held the programme in high esteem, he said the school hoped to see the programme in the FT Top 25 Global Rankings in the near future.S. Parthasarathy, Head of Alumni Relations at IIMB, provided a broad overview of the programmes that are focused on engaging with the alumni, calling for ideas that can bring IIMB and the alumni together.
He highlighted a few initiatives that are focused on the alumni like the IIMB Alumni App, Alumni Newsletter, IIMB Alumni Association, webinars, among others. The talks were followed by a masterclass by Prof. PC Narayan, Faculty in the Finance & Accounting area at IIMB. While addressing the young audience, he mapped the era of each political leader and the effect of their decisions on the nation’s economy.
“My narrative may seem like a myth for many of you present in the room, but I have lived through it all,” he said. The masterclass was followed by a panel discussion on ‘Life after EPGP’, moderated by Saakshi Agarwal (EPGP Class of 2017), Manager, Wipro. The panel featured Ananth Chandramouli (EPGP Class of 2010), Managing Director, Local Business Services, Capgemini; Sunil Prasad (EPGP Class of 2010), Delivery Head, Adobe; Umang Varma (EPGP Class of 2011), Principal Consultant – Digital Innovation, Oracle, and Himanshu Joshi (EPGP Class of 2012), Product Management and Analytics, Abof.“A formalized industry training, by the alumni, for the current and upcoming batches of EPGP can be of great help to understand the needs of the industry and help students who are looking for a career switch,” said Umang Varma. He also added that the alumni will be very happy to guide the fellow EPGP programmers.
“Having a strong database of EPGP students, inviting the alumni as part of the guest lectures can help students understand the current requirements of the industry. This will also help us stay connected with the institute,” said Ananth. The event was followed by cultural activities, organized by the current EPGP batch, which provided opportunities for the students to get to know their predecessors and help in building a strong bond amongst EPGPians, both past and present.
