New Delhi, 30 August 2021: In India, there are more than 50 Central Universities.In these universities students from anywhere in India can apply as CUs controlled by Government of India.
As on 30 August 2021, there are ten Central Universities which have opened admission for PhD programmes.

Central University of Gujarat Announces PhD Admission 2021 for 95 Seats
Gandhinagar, 27 August 2021: Central University of Gujarat (CUG) has announced PhD Admission for the academic year 2021-22. CUG invites applications from candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) /SLET /GATE/ Teacher fellowship holder or have passed MPhil programme as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016.
Total PhD Seats: The total number of vacant PhD seats are 95 across 17 subjects.

JNU Entrance Exam 2021 for 662 PhD Seats: Application closing date extends
New Delhi, 27 August 2021: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the extension of the closing date for submission of online application for Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE) 2021. On behalf of Jawaharlal Nehru University, the NTA will conduct JNUEE 2021.
Earlier, the closing date was scheduled on 27 August 2021.

Hyderabad, 19 August 2021: The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad has announced Admission for academic year 2021-22. The admission offered in the following academic degrees: Under Graduate programmes; PG Programmes; Teacher Teaching Programmes; and PhD programmes. The admission is offered at its Hyderabad, Lucknow and Shilong campuses.

JNU Announces PhD Admission 2021 under JRF & GATE Fellowship Category for 320 Seats
New Delhi, 17 August 2021: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has announced PhD Admission under JRF and GATE Category for 2021-22. The total number PhD Seats available under JRF are 300 and GATE Category are 20.
JRF qualified candidates are exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT). GATE qualified candidates for the admission in the school of Engineering shall be exempted from Computer Based Test (CBT). Such candidates shall be shortlisted and called directly for viva-voce.

Shillong, Meghalaya: North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, a Central University in Meghalaya, has released Admission Notification for Academic Year 2021-22. How to Apply and Application Fee: Students applying courses/programmes in Shillong as well in Tura Campus are requested to apply online on payment of Rs.800/- and Rs.400/- (for SC/ST category) and for Ph.D. Programme Rs.500/- and Rs.250/- (for SC/ST category) and the payment will be online using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking through SBI and HDFC Bank. The admission fee is not refundable.
