‘’Team Lachit’’, Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management Under the Faculty of Commerce and Management, Assam down town University had attempted a National Record by preparing and assembling 517 assorted pastries to acclaimed their name in “Limca Book of Records” for the upcoming 2023 edition on Wednesday 11th May 2022. A team of 25 in-house chefs comprising of students and faculty headed by Chef Jyotirmay Choudhury and Mridu Pawan Rabha have attempted to make history on this day. The Team prepared mind-blowing varieties of pastries in order to outdo the previous record. Significantly the name “Team Lachit “ has been named after the legendary “Ahom Army General, Lachit Borpukan“, and the year 2022 marks his 400th birth anniversary.
The programme started with the oath taking ceremony in the presence of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. N.N. Dutta, Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) N.C Talukdar, Dean of Studies Prof. Bandana Dutta, Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management Prof (Dr) Seema Sharma, Trustee Members, Additional Registrar (Administration) Ashim Barman,Gazetted Officers Mr. Partha Sarthi Mohanta, Joint Commissioner Guwahati Police, Mr. Sanjay Gajraj, Assistant Director (Hort.)Horticulture Division,CPWD Guwahati, Er.Abhiprerna Awan,Executive Engineer,Assam Aviation Works Division, CPWD, and other delegates from Hospitality and Tourism Industry, Central and Government Colleges and Principal of Schools.
This mega event was first of its kind in entire North East. This event had showcased the culinary and creativity skills of the Hotel Management students and enhances the Event Management skills of the Tourism Management students. Dr. Bhola Chourasia, Hod Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management welcomed the Honorable Dignitaries along with Dr. Santosh Kumar Upadhyay, Banani Saikia and Ritwick Goswami. The event was graced by Dean, Associate Deans, Hod’s and other administrative officials of Assam down town University.
