Bengaluru: The EQUIS Accreditation Board has voted to confer the EQUIS Accreditation label upon the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore for a further period of five years. Five year accreditation, the highest that EQUIS confers, is a testimony to the fact that the evaluating team was confident about IIM Bangalore’s ability to sustain its efforts undertaken to achieve excellent standards in education, internationalization and research.
The Accreditation Board took particular note of the quality of the school as reflected in its attraction of very high quality students, the provision of well-ranked management programmes, the establishment of close connections with Indian business and government, the career success of its graduates and the outstanding campus in India’s high technology capital – Bangalore.
The EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) is a global school accreditation system. It specializes in higher education institutions of management and business administration, run by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The fundamental objective of EQUIS, linked to the mission of EFMD, is to raise the standard of management education worldwide.
In a letter to the Director of IIM Bangalore, David M. Saunders PhD, Chairman, EQUIS Accreditation Board, said the evaluating team was impressed with the significant progress made since the school was last accredited by EQUIS in 2013.Prof. R. Srinivasan, Director Incharge, IIM Bangalore, said: “The prestigious five-year EQUIS accreditation is an affirmation of the world-class quality of IIM Bangalore – the school, its processes and its programmes.” Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean of Academic Programmes, added: “Let’s celebrate and continue our journey towards making IIM Bangalore an exemplary institution.”
