New Delhi, 30 October 2020: University Grants Commission (UGC), the higher education regulator, has extended the closing date for submission of online applications  for four schemes for the Academic year 2020-2021. The revised closing date for application submission is now 30 November 2020.

The UGC has earlier invited fresh applications (including renewals) from regular and full time students for four schemes for the Academic year 2020-2021.

These four schemes are as followed:

  1. Indira Gandhi PG Scholarship  for single Girl Child (SGC)
  2. PG Scholarship for University Rank Holder  candidates (URH)
  3. Ishan Uday Special scheme  for North Eastern Region (NER)
  4. PG Scholarship for Professional  Courses  for SC/ST candidates  (PGSPROF)

Following COVID 19 pandemic, many eligible student have been unable to submit application on time with required documents. The extension of closing date of submission of applications has provided has relief to such candidates.

The guidelines of each scheme  may be  accessed at “National  Scholarship Portal”.

The students  who are  eligible  and are  admitted  in the recognized  institutions  as per  the guidelines, may submit their  applications  through National Scholarship  Portal  on its  website -https://scholarships.gov.in/

The Portal will be open  for receiving  applications  for  “Fresh ‘ as well as ‘Renewals’ as per the  following  revised timeline (after extension):

Closing date for filling  application by students after extension – 30 November 2020

Closing  date for  verification  of applications  by institutions of students including  re-submission of defective applications.-15  December 2020

The UGC has mentioned that the students are advised  to submit their online  applications  well in time so that their institutions  are able  to verify  applications  within  the prescribed  timeline.

The eligible  institutions are also  advised applications of their students immediately  after receiving  the applications  on Portal . It would  be in the  interest  of students . if all the applications  are verified  by institutions  by 10 December 2020, so that they are able  to correct/rectify the defected applications .
