New Delhi, 29 November 2021:  The University Grants Commission (UGC), the regulator for Higher Education, has asked universities and colleges to speed up the recruitment process for filling up vacant faculty posts.

The UGC in a letter addressed to all universities and colleges said “The shortage of faculty in Higher Education Institutions is a major concern and requires to be addressed on priority for improving the quality of Higher Education. you are, therefore, once again requested to take appropriate steps for faculty recruitment at the earliest in your university as well as in the affiliated colleges, ”

The UGC asked “All the universities and their affiliated colleges are also requested to ensure that the details of all the vacant teaching posts, along with the reservations and advertisement details are uploaded on the University Activity Monitoring Portal of UGC at https: //www.ugc.ac.in/uamp/ on or before 31 December 2021.”

Hence, Universities and Colleges will be forced to initiate prompt action for hiring faculty posts.
