Kochi, 31 January 2021: Cochin University of Science and Tecnology (CUSAT), a state university in Kerala, has released PhD Admissions Notification under MHRD-DRDO Fellowship Scheme. The detailed research problems identified jointly by CUSAT and NPOL (Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory).

The closing date for submission of application is 15 February 2021.

Research Areas & Eligibility Details:  

Research Topic Qualification of Student
Surface and internal waves, currents, tides, small-scale eddies and turbulence Essential: M.Sc. Oceanography/ M.Tech. Ocean Technology with First class.
Desirable: Experience in Coastal oceanography data collection and analysis, National Test scores such as NET/GATE / DAT.
Dynamical studies of coastal features and its influence on acoustic propagation Essential: M.Sc. Oceanography/ M.Tech. Ocean Technology with First class.
Desirable: Experience in Ocean Circulation Modeling (POM/ROMS), National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
Modelling and simulation of underwater acoustic environment Essential: M.Sc. Oceanography/ M.Tech. Ocean Technology with First class.
Desirable: Experience in Ocean Acoustic Modelling and analysis, National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
Investigations on novel architectures and algorithms for direction of arrival estimation, target location and RF / acoustic data telemetry Essential: M.E./M.Tech in ECE with specialization in Communication Systems/Signal Processing/ Microwave Electronics/Wireless Communications with First class.
Desirable: Experience in and Knowledge of MATLAB/LABVIEW and interest in mathematical modelling, system simulations & coding, National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
Propagation of laser beam in underwater turbulence for defence applications Essential: M.Sc. Photonics/Physics or M. Tech. In Optoelectronics/Photonics/Laser Technology/Applied Optics/Optical Communication with First class. Desirable: Research experience in the field of Photonics/Lasers, National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
Tactical designing of Operational Oceanography Essential: Postgraduate degree in Meteorology/Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences/Ocean Sciences/Remote Sensing/Physical Oceanography and Ocean Modelling with First class. Very good knowledge of Python Programming Desirable: Experience in using machine learning techniques, National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
7 New low temperature vulcanization technique for underwater encapsulations Essential: Post Graduation in Polymer Science/ Chemistry / Material Science or Polymer Technology or Chemical Engineering with First class. Desirable: National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
Triboelectric nanogenerators for marine energy harvesting Essential: Post Graduation in Polymer Science/ Chemistry / Material Science or Polymer Technology or Chemical Engineering with First class.
Desirable: Valid National Test scores such as NET/GATE/DAT.
