Goa, 04 June 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD (Full Time & Part Time) Admission for Autumn Semester -2021-22.

IIT Goa provides financial support to PhD candidates under the full time research scholarship or Teaching Assistantship (TA).

List of Departments where PhD Admission is Open:

  • School of Chemical & Materials Sciences
  • School of Electrical Sciences
  • School of Physical Sciences
  • School of Mathematics & Computer Sciences (Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering)
  • School of Mechanical Sciences

Eligibility Conditions

 General Eligibility Criteria for Engineering Streams

For General/OBC(NCL)/EWS Categories

  1. Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 10 or an equivalent to 6.0 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 10.

OR

  1. (i) B. Tech/M.Sc in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 70% marks in aggregate or a minimum CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a scale of 10 or an equivalent to 7.0 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 10.

AND

(ii) Additional requirements as listed in Annexure 1 of the notification:

 For SC/ST/PwD

  1. Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or a minimum CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 10 or an equivalent to 5.5 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 10.

OR

  1. (i) B. Tech/M.Sc in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate or a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a scale of 10 or an equivalent to 6.5 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 10.

AND

(ii) Additional requirements as listed in Annexure 1 of the notification:

For IIT BTech and MTech degree holders

Candidates having a last qualifying degree (i.e. B.Tech. or M.Tech. degree) from IITs with a CGPA/CPI score of 8 on a scale of 10 and above may be admitted to the Ph.D. program under TA or TAP positions through written test and/or interview.

General Eligibility Criteria for Science Streams:

For GEN/OBC(NCL)/EWS

Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.

OR

A minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 10 or an equivalent to 6.0 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 10.

For SC/ST/PwD

Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate

OR

A minimum CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 10 or an equivalent to 5.5 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 10.

Key Dates: The closing date for submission of application is 15 June 2021. The schedule for the interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates via e-Mail.

Application Fees:

Female Candidates -50

SC/ST/PwD category candidates -50

All other candidates ₹  100/-

Teaching Assistantship (TA) Financial Support: Funded by Ministry of Education, the Teaching Assistantship (TAs) are expected to assist in the academic/administrative work for smooth functioning of the Institute. Students under this category are entitled to the financial support as per the Ministry norms.
