Allahabad, 18 August 2020: University of Allahabad, a Central University in Uttar Pradesh, will conduct  Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET) 2020 for admission to PhD Programmes. These PhD programmes are available in the university main Campus and its 8 Constituent Colleges. Application portal is open now.

Total Vacant PhD Seats are 588 across 41 subjects: The total number PhD seats available are 588 across 41 subjects. These PhD seats are available in the University of Allahabad Main Campus and its 8 constituent colleges: Chowdhary Mahadev Prasad Degree College, Allahabad Degree College, Ishwar Saran Degree College, Jagat Taran Girls Degree College, Sadanlal Sanwaldas Khanna Girls Degree College, Arya  Kanya Degree College, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Government Degree College, and Ewing Christian Colleges.

Selection Procedure:  Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET) 2020 and Interview.  The following category students are exempted from CRET:  Teacher of the University or Constituent Colleges candidate for PhD ; The candidates qualified in Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) conducted by UGC/CSIR.

Key Dates:  The closing date for submission of online application is 28 August 2020. The online application portal has opened from 28 July 2020.

Exam Details:  CRET-2020 Test is divided into two Levels: Level (Written Test) & Level  II (Research Interview & Presentation).  Level-I of CRET-2020 Test will have 50 objective questions of 2 marks each. As per UGC Regulation, 50% of the questions would be from Research Methodology and 50% will be subject Specific i.e. 25 questions from Research Methodology and 25 question from subject specific. There shall not be any negative marking.

Paper II will have subjective type questions with small, medium and large type answers:  The duration of Paper I and II will be 100 minutes and 200 minutes, respectively. The total marks of Paper I and Paper II will be 100 and 200, respectively. Total marks of both papers will be 300. Both papers will be held in a single meeting.

The Level 2 Test shall be entail an interview and may include Presentations, discussions or other modes of appraisal and shall be administered by the Doctoral Programme  Committee of the department/institute/centre.
