New Delhi, 25 August 2020: The academic activities have been almost halted since 25 March 2020 amid COVID 19 pandemic. Though Admission process has been delayed for 2020-21 session, most of universities have notified their Admission process and some have completed.
There are 12 public universities including NITs, Central Universities, State Universities and Autonomous Universities which have opened their PhD Admission portal. The total number of vacant PhD seats are more than 2,000. Most of them offer research Fellowships.
These 12 universities are as followed:
- Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic, Sanchi
- National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur
- Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, a state university in Uttar Pradesh
- Punjab University
- Centre for Brain Research
- University of Allahabad, a Central University in Uttar Pradesh
- Visva-Bharati University, a Central University and an Institute of national Importance,
- Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow,
- Kurukshetra University, a state university in Haryana,
- Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Jaipur
- North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST)
- IIIT Pune
Punjab University, Chandigarh, has announced PhD and MPhil Admission for 2020-21. The University will conduct PhD & MPhil Admission Entrance Test on 07 November 2020. The total number of PhD seats are 622 while total number of MPhil seats are 150.
North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) has extended PhD Admission to 27 August 2020. National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission for Odd Semester 2020-21. The total number of PhD seats with Institute Fellowship are 75 across 14 departments.
Two central universities such as Visva-Bharati University, Shanti Niketan and Allahabad University have opened their PhD Application window. In Visva-Bharati University, the total PhD vacant seats are 338 Seats and 156 Seats for MPhil. In Allahabad University, the total vacant PhD seats are 588 across 41 subjects.
