New Delhi, 17 November 2020: In India there are 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). These Institutes of National Importance offer PhD programmes with Institutional Fellowships through two Admission Cycle in a year. These institutes provide high level research work to PhD scholars with financial and fellowship benefits.
For January 2021 Cycle, the PhD Admission process is at mid phase as some IITs have already closed their application window while 8 IITs have opened their application window. Meanwhile, four IITs are yet to notify their PhD Admission process for the upcoming cycle.
As on 16 October 2020, there are Seven IITs have released PhD Admission notification for January 2021 session. These institutes are offering Institutional Fellowships as per Ministry of HRD norms.

PhD Programmes are available in the following categories: Regular, Sponsored, Working Professionals and Individual Fellowship (i.e. CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE categories)] of the Institute in all disciplines of Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences, Rural Development, Law, Management and Medicine.
Key Dates & Application Fee: Commencement of online application form submission: 29 October 2020. The closing date for submission of application is 24 November 2020. Application fee (Non-refundable) is Rs.1000/- for Unreserved/OBC/EWS/Transgender candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PwD/ Women candidates.
IIT Goa Announces PhD Admission January 2021 with Teaching Assistantship

Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) under ‘Anytime Admission Mode’ for Academic Year 2020-21. The application window is open from 01 November 2020.
Candidates who are in their final semester/year of their U.G/P.G degree may apply now against “Anytime Admission Mode” for admission to M.S. / Ph.D. / Direct Ph.D. programme throughout the year but their admission will be considered against next academic year.
