Mohali: There are Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, popularly known as IISERs, under Ministry of HRD. These are also tagged Institutes of National Importance. These institutes offer BS, MS-PhD and PhD Programmes.
These institutes are very popular among students for research – based progarmmes as students are eligible for government sponsored fellowships.
As on 29 October 2020, these are three IISERs which have opened Admission for January 2020. These IISERs include: Kolkata, Pune, and Berhampur. NISER Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute under ministry of Department of Atomic Energy, has released Notice for Admission to PhD Program 2020-21 (Winter Session).
Meanwhile IISER Mohali, IISER Tirupati and IISER Bhopal closed their application window for January 2021. IISER Thiruvananthapuram is yet to notify for PhD Admission.

Bhubaneswar: National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar, is an autonomous premier public research institute under Department of Atomic Energy, released Notice for Admission to PhD Program 2020-21 (Winter Session). The PhD program is scheduled to commence from 05 January 2021.
Key Dates: Online application has opened from 21 October 2020 (Wednesday). The closing date for filling up online application is 05 November 2020 (Thursday). The Short-listed candidates list will be uploaded on NISER website latest by 10 November 2020. The registration is scheduled to be held on 4th January, 2021 (Monday).
