Kharagpur: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, an Institute of National Importance, has announced PhD Admission for the Spring Semester 2020-2021. Regular PhD candidates will receive Institute Research Assistantship for five years.
PhD Programmes are available in the following categories: Regular, Sponsored, Working Professionals and Individual Fellowship (i.e. CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE categories)] of the Institute in all disciplines of Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences, Rural Development, Law, Management and Medicine.
Key Dates & Application Fee: Commencement of online application form submission: 29 October 2020
The closing date for submission of application is 24 November 2020.
Application fee (Non-refundable) is Rs.1000/- for Unreserved/OBC/EWS/Transgender candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PwD/ Women candidates.

Fellowships: The Institute Research Assistantship shall be awarded for a maximum period of 5 years.
At present the amounts are as follows:
Rs. 31,000/- pm for first 2 years
Rs. 35,000/- pm for next 3 years
Selection and Admission: The admission of a candidate to the PhD program is recommended by the Departmental Academic Committee (Post-Graduate and Research), abbreviated as DAC (PG&R), of the Department/Centre concerned on the basis of:
- Overall Academic Performance
- Written/Computer Test and/or Interview
