If you love nothing more than sitting behind a wheel, hitting the open road, and visiting new destinations, a driving career might be right up your alley.

It doesn’t matter if you’re fresh out of high school or are looking for a career change; you could enter a role that allows you to drive every working day. Here are four fantastic careers for people who love driving.

  1. An Owner Operator

If the thought of long-distance hauls across the country doesn’t faze you and you’d love to become your own boss, consider a career as an owner operator. If you have your own trailer, or a tractor and trailer, you can secure owner operator trucking jobs regularly while receiving the best rates and a steady income.

Owner operators could receive a lucrative gross revenue percentage for the lease of their trailer and/or tractor, as well as weekly settlements, a direct deposit, and fuel cards. It will allow you to spend many days or weeks on the open road, breathing in new sights, while enjoying a healthy revenue.

  1. A Cab Driver

If you cannot bear to spend time away from your loved ones for a day or more, a cab driver career might be a better fit. You’ll hop into your taxi and secure as many customers as possible each day.

It is a great occupation for those who have the gift of the gab and love to drive, as you’ll transport people of all ages across a city or town. Cab drivers can receive a fantastic income if they live in a well-populated area and own their taxis. Yet, you may need to work long, erratic hours to hit your daily income goals.

Every US city has specific requirements for cab drivers, but you will not need any formal education to get started.

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • A driver’s license
  • Excellent health
  • To be a minimum of 18 or 21 years old (depending on your state)
  • No unpaid tickets
  1. A Bus Driver

A bus driver career might not sound like the coolest profession, but it is an ideal option for those who love to meet new people, embrace challenges, and want to expand their driving skills.

After all, bus drivers are required to complete various training and certifications to enter the role. For instance, you’ll need:

  • Long-term in-class training
  • A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with special passenger training
  • A background check
  • Frequent physical exams
  • A GED or high school diploma

A bus driver will need to do much more than drive from A to B, as they are responsible for protecting the health and well-being of their passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.

  1. A Chauffeur

Drive in style every day by becoming a chauffeur. You’ll sit behind the wheel of a luxurious car, potentially transporting celebrities, entrepreneurs, or notable figures from A to B. Of course, you’ll need much more than great driving skills to enjoy a career as a chauffeur. You must have a firm understanding of a town or city’s layout to ensure a VIP reaches their destination on schedule. Plus, you must be impeccably groomed, well-dressed, and have a discreet, patient personality.
