London: Global Indian International School (GIIS) was awarded the prestigious Golden Peacock Award 2016 for Innovation Management by the Institute of Directors (IOD) India. The awards were a part of the annual 16th London Global Convention on Corporate Governance & Sustainability’ organised by the IOD India, from 17th – 20th October. The convention and the awards ceremony were held at the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair and the House of Lords in London (UK).
Rt. Hon. Ms. Priti Patel MP,Cabinet Minister and The Secretary of State for International Development, Govt. of UK gave a video address to the congregation and congratulated all the winners during the occasion. The award was presented to Mr. Atul Temurnikar- Chairman and Co-founder, Global Schools Foundation, by Rt Hon Baroness Sandip Verma, European External Affairs Committee, amidst the presence of Lt Gen J S Ahluwalia- PVSM (retd) President, IOD, India and various eminent personalities.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Temurnikar said, “GIIS as a school has implemented more than 200 innovations during the past two years (2014-16), of which 85 innovations has been recognised for various awards. Innovation is a daily practice, contributing positively to the learning outcomes.”
As an educational institute with a strong focus on innovation, this is indeed a proud moment for GIIS. The Multiple Mechanisms for Institutionalising Innovation (M2I2) is its unique differentiator that helps them, as a team, make innovation a daily practice at GIIS. M2I2 involves cross functional teams of leaders, staff, faculty, students, and parents for generating, communicating and implementing new ideas.
GIIS shared winning space with organisations like, IBM Corporation (USA), Doha Bank (Qatar), Levi Strauss & Co. (USA), among others.
Amongst the eminent personalities present at the event were Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, Transport Minister for Aviation International Trade and Europe, Govt. of UK; Lord Jitesh Gadhia, Strategic Advisor and Board Member, UK Government Investments Limited; Dr Graham Wilson, Leadership & Organization Development, Oxford, UK; Dr Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & MD of JK Tyres and Industries, India; and Mr Sanjiv Goenka- Chairman, RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group, India, along with others.
