Mumbai: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has awarded Distinguished Service Awards 2016 to six alumni on occasion of the Alumni Day function held on 25 December 2016. These six alumni are achievers in their own chosen domains and have contributed immensely to the progress of the Institute.
This year, the award was conferred on Mr. Pradip Nadkarni, Mr. Raj Nair, Mr. Avinash Sankholkar, Mr. Dinkar Natraj, Mr. Suneet Chitale and Ms. Anuradha Narasimhan. The award, instituted in the year 1999 by IIT Bombay, consists of a certificate, memento and an uttaria (scarf).
During the function, Mr. Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman of global process solutions company Praj Industries, announced a donation of Rs. 2.5 crores to the Institute to set up a Centre for Learning and Teaching.
Further, the Silver Jubilee Batch (class of 1991) of IIT Bombay adopted the legacy project by pledging a sum of Rs 8 crore towards the project. A legacy project aims at betterment of the institute and reflects as a way of giving back to the alma mater.
