Kharagpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur presents Great Step, the annual technical fest of its Department of Mining Engineering, which will be held from 30 September 2016 to 2 October 2016. The annual technical fest in the mining sector has always been successful in presenting a common platform for the talent and innovation from the various colleges of the country. The ninth edition of Great Step has lined up major events under various themes for this three -day techno fest: Petro case study, Mineo case study, National mining innovation, Enviro case study, Survekshan, Geobotics, Industrial design problem, Mine Indite , etc.
In addition to the above activities, Workshops, Panel discussions and Guest lectures are also on the menu. Interested students to participate in the above contests and challenges have to register their names online. There is no fee for online registration. This student talent engagement and innovation programme is expected to get overwhelming responses.
IIT Kharagpur’s Department of Mining engineering initiated GREAT STEP in 2008 to create a common platform for young talents in the Mining and Geology industries. Here, it can be note that the last eight editions were filled with mind churning challenges, informative guest lectures and workshops aimed at the expansion of thoughts into the unexplored realms of the field.
At the annual technical fest, Great Step, the students in the Mining and Geology industries will get a chance to showcase leadership, interactive, and marketing skills at national level.
