New Delhi: The President of India Mr Pranab Mukherjee will be addressing the students and faculty members of the higher learning institutions  and probationary officers in civil service academies through Video Conference using NKN on 10 August 2016 at 1230 hrs. The President Mr Mukherjee’s contribution to the field of higher education is immense and laudable. During his tenure as the President of India, he has already visited more than 116 institutions of higher learning in India.

Here it can be noted that the President of India is the Visitor of 114 central institutions. This includes Central Universities, NITs, IITs, IISERs etc. under the administrative control of Ministry of HRD. Some of the institutions are under the administrative control of Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. The powers of the President as a Visitor of these institutions are defined in their respective Acts.
