New Delhi:  The University Grand Commission (UGC) has directed that now each university will have to maintain the list of all the MPhil and PhD registered students including name of the registered candidate, topic of his/her research, name of supervisor/co-supervisor, date of enrollment/registration on their websites on year-wise basis. This data must be updated on the university’s website on regular basis and intimated to the UGC by email also.

As per the UGC circular, the information may be made available on the homepage of the concerned university’s website with a dedicated link.  UGC informed that the same may be intimated to the UGC by email. All universities will have to maintain this data base as per the clause 5.6 of University Grants commission (Minimum standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD Degrees) Regulations, 2016.  The link for the circular is given below: http://www.ugc.ac.in/pdfnews/3206190_UGC-letter-regarding-Regulations-on-Ph.D.-M.Phil..pdf .

Here it can be mentioned that the UGC (Minimum standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/PhD Degrees) Regulations 2016 have become operational from the date of the publication, effective from 5 July 2016.
