New Delhi: The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (eDC) of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) presents its first Talk of the StartUp 101 Series in partnership with Y-Combinator, a Silicon Valley based accelerator, along with Mr. Kunal Shah, former CEO of Freecharge and Angel Investor, on 21 September 2016 (Wednesday).  Y-Combinator, popularly known as YC, is considered to be the best finishing school for early-stage entrepreneurs in the world.   

Two partners of YC- Adora Cheung, former CEO Homejoy  and Tim Brady, former CPO Yahoo Inc – along with Kunal Shar will deliver their talks and participate in the brainstorming startup idea exchange show.  Registrations process to attend the event is on progress. Budding entrepreneurs in India will get chance to directly interact with these startup stalwarts.

Both YC partners will tour India, for the first time while it is a part of YC’s 11-country tour. Also India is the only Asian country in the list. In addition to New Delhi,  YC teams will visit Bangalore and attend a host of startup events.  After the US, India is the country that sends the maximum applications for acceleration proggramme of YC.

YC was founded in 2005 and initially its focus area was on startups based in the US. Since 2014, YC has started showing interest in India. Here, it can be mentioned that Bengaluru-based ClearTax was the first India-focused startup to be eligible for YC accelerator programme, a three-month programme. Now, many more companies such as Razorpay, Kisan Network, Justride, Meesho  and Innov8 have joined the YC startup club.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (eDC) of IIT Delhi was initiated in January, 2007 with a vision to promote Entrepreneurship amongst the students of IIT Delhi and to build an exhaustive resource pool to aid potential student entrepreneurs.
