Mumbai:  Hyatt Hotels Corporation (Hyatt) has been named as one of the 50 Best Workplaces for Charity and Volunteering by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE. The recognition highlights U.S. companies that go above and beyond with their philanthropic work, with initiatives like food drives, cancer walks, and even volunteer bonuses.

With over 100,000 employees worldwide, Hyatt has given $7.2 million in total philanthropic donations. As the only travel and hospitality company to make it to the list this year; Hyatt is ranked 23 based on feedback from employees at Great Place to Work–Certified organizations.

Hyatt works to create an environment for people to thrive by building strong communities and fostering sustainable environmental practices. Its aim to be the most preferred hospitality brand across the globe drives Hyatt’s belief that it has great opportunities and an even greater responsibility to ensure that it grows thoughtfully. From offering its employees PTO for volunteering to offering matching funds, Hyatt’s benefits and programs include the promotion of education and the involvement in local organizations.

Kurt Straub, Vice President of Operations for India, Hyatt said, “With purpose and care at the helm of everything that we do, we are committed to creating a work environment where our colleagues are encouraged to not only care for their guests and each other, but to care for the communities they operate in. Hyatt’s purpose is driven by our belief that not only can our actions create long-term value for the people and the communities where we work, they can also help protect the planet for our future generations. This recognition acknowledges all of our 100,000 colleagues globally, without whom our efforts would not have been possible. Being a part of this list only encourages us to work harder.”

Hyatt employees feel that they are committed to care for each other, their guests, and the local communities. They believe that Hyatt not only makes them feel, but also truly cares about its employees. The benefits and the programs provided at Hyatt are truly a great asset to the company and its employees.

The list of U.S. companies has been compiled by FORTUNE based on more than 350,000 staffer surveys highlighting their company’s philanthropic work. The detailed questions in the survey varied from how proud they are of their impact on the community, the difference they feel they make, and whether their work has special meaning.
