New Delhi: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the regulator of the profession of Company Secretaries, has launched a special Fee Waiver Scheme for the students of North Eastern States.

This scheme will cover all students registering for the Foundation and Executive Programme Stages from North Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura & Sikkim). All students belonging to North Eastern States who have passed the 10+2 or equivalent or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent irrespective of the percentage of marks shall be eligible for Fee Waiver while registering for Foundation Programme and Executive Programme Stage respectively.

Welcoming the ICSI Fee waiver Scheme, Mr Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam said that this initiative of the Institute will encourage the youth of North Eastern States to develop themselves into professionals and be an important part of the Corporate architecture of the Country.

The fee waiver scheme for students “स्वावलम्बन – समग्र शिक्षा, समग्र ववकास” will provide an opportunity to the youth of these States to come to the mainstream and fulfil their dreams. The Government of India is already making conscious efforts in improving the infrastructure in these areas and the Institute is doing its bit for the development of society at large.

CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, President, ICSI while launching the fee waiver Scheme said that Education plays a vital role in inclusive development of society and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is playing a pioneer role in the field of education for many decades. The Institute, in line with the initiatives of the Government of India by focussing on the development of North Eastern States, has come up with a Fee Waiver Scheme for the students of these states for pursuing the profession of Company Secretaries. Through this proactive move, the Institute is expecting to empower the students of these States. There is abundant talent among the new generation and there is a need to provide ample opportunities to them. It is the responsibility of institutions like ICSI to offer a level playing field for such students who are not able to catch up with their counter parts in the main stream.

Mr Makarand Lele, Vice President, The ICSI stated that students are the most cherished resource of the country as they will be taking up the mantle in the times to come. The ICSI has the noble job of developing such budding professionals.

Mr  Amit Pareek,Chairman, North Eastern Chapter of ICSI who was present on the occasion thanked CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, President on behalf of the students of the States in the North East part of India for launching the Fee Waiver Scheme.
