Chennai: Technology is the future where future work will feature the combination of man and the machine. Technology will not takeaway jobs but will create new opportunities. The most of the speakers and panelists at the day one of NASSCOM HR Summit converge on magnitude of impact of technology on HR landscape.
R Chandrashekhar, President – NASSCOM, in his welcome address said that new jobs coming in will be a combination of technology and domain expertise. The nature of jobs and work is undergoing complete change, Chandrashekhar added. Sandeep Chaudhary, CEO AonHewitt India, said that locus of disruption is in the hands of employees and innovation will go bottom up. Hence, organization focus should shift from span of control to developing people, Chaudhary added.
Diminishing fear that technology will squeeze jobs, Krish Shankar, EVP, Group Head – Human Resources, Infosys Limited said that technology will not takeaway jobs but will create new employment. “There is so much for HR to do, that nothing can take away their job.” he shared.
‘The office always on in this Digital age, it never shuts.’ said Keshav R Murugesh, CEO WNS Global. Digital workplaces are active 24/7, never shuts; Hence, HR practices are on the verge of changes, he opined.
The theme of this year NASSCOM HR Summit is “Navigating Uncertain Waters: Industry is in flux. HR can deliver a success story”. The two-day HR Summit is the flagship event of NASSCOM for Human Resource professionals, functional leads and C-suite executives. This annual event is attended by 650 participants through nearly 50 sessions taken up by 60 speakers, and workshops.
