New Delhi: iPATE  (Industrial proficiency Aptitude Test for Engineers) is one stop solution for Indian Industry to recruit Top Technical Talent on pan India basis organized By Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The aim of the exam is setting a benchmark to assess industrial aptitude & proficiency of Engineering Graduates across India.

iPATE is similar to GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering). Here, SkillOutlook presents 7 key points of iPATE 2020.

1.Key Dates of iPATE:  The application window has opened from 01 January 2020. The closing date for submission of online application is 31 March 2020. CII iPATE 2020 Online Examination will be conducted for Engineers on 4, 5, 11 and July 2020.

2.Eligibility Conditions:

B.E. / B.Tech(4 years course after 10+2)

B.E. / B.Tech(3 years course after B.Sc./ Diploma in Engineering/ Technology)

B.Arch–(5 years course) / Naval Architecture (4 years course) / Planning (4 years course)

Professional Society Examinations –(equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech/ B.Arch) recognized by MHRD/ UPSC/ AICTE

Final Year Students may also apply

3.Mode of Examination: Examination for all the Engineering Disciplines will be conducted as online Computer Based Test (CBT).  The students can appear Mock Test for the examination. The enrolled students will be able get update on Strength-Weakness Analysis, Learning & Up-Skilling Programs via Online Preparation.

4.Engineering Disciplines: Aerospace Engineering; Agricultural Engineering; Architectural Engineering; Biomedical Engineering; Biotechnology; Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Electronics and Communication Engineering; Instrumentation Engineering; Food Technology ; Mechanical Engineering; Metallurgical Engineering; Mining Engineering; Petroleum Engineering; Production Engineering; and Textile Technology.

  1. iPATE Score: The iPATE score is valid for 3 years and Engineers at any age are eligible for iPATE Exam.
  2. iPATE Exam Structure: The test period will be three hours. The exam will have three sections : I,II and III.

Section II:

Professional Abilities

Project Management

Finance & Accounts

Legal, Contracts & Arbitration

Environmental Laws

Duration: 3 hours

7.iPATE Certificate: The LIVE database of candidates with Overall and Sectional Scores will be available to Indian Industry, who are in search of technical talent to hire. The CII iPATE certificate for an engineer will provide feedback on three fronts – overall score which will include percentage and grading as well as percentile and ranking. There will be a sectional score on basic concepts, domain knowledge and cognitive abilities and there will be a demographic score which will be across disciplines, industry domains, functional areas and geographical areas (institute, university, state, region etc.)

Exam centres in selected cities and towns across different States & UTs of India

Exam Fee: INR 1,500.00 (inclusive GST)

A candidate can apply for only One Discipline. The selection of the appropriate discipline is the responsibility of the candidate.
