New Delhi: Younger bosses are winning both heart and mind. Young bosses appear to more focusing on speed, agility and innovation in startup companies. According ‘The Younger Boss- Older Subordinate’ relationship research report by TeamLease, more than 52 percentage of women in the start-up sector are preferred working under younger superiors. Women mention younger bosses were less prejudiced and more open to diverse point of views.

The report further finds that the liking for younger bosses is not just restricted to women, even male employees find younger bosses are more friendly and capable of handling business goals. The entry-to-mid level employees across sectors are also in the same page as more than 57 percentages of them favour working with younger superior.

However, experienced and senior professionals has opposite views as 75% of the seasoned professionals (talent with more than 20 years of experience) are more comfortable with older bosses. They believe the older chiefs with better capabilities to handle complexities, ambiguity, people and organizational transformations.

Nearly 18% surveyed employees find that younger bosses are friendly, fun loving and easy to work with and 27% say that they are more practical. 21% feel older employees reporting to younger bosses is a big challenge while 11% mention that young bosses lack business relevant knowledge.

‘The Younger Boss- Older Subordinate’ research report has also anlysed sector wise views. Automobile sector is an exception with a higher preference for older and more experienced leaders (73%). While 69% of surveyed employees in IT sector are preferring young bosses, 58% of employees  in Non-IT sector say yes the same.
